music services

Without wanting to sound too full of myself, I must admit that after over 40 years involved with the music industry, I have gathered enough valuable information and experience to consider myself qualified to share with others, hence my initiative to include this section on the site.
Although my very first proper gig in the World of the Arts (believe it or not) was to assist in the production of the theatre play Suz/O/Suz by La Fura dels Baus for the Festival Internacional de Teatre de Palma in 1989, being a musician, I soon decided to concentrate in the music side of things and leave the theatre to people who know better than me.
From rigging PA systems, to booking bands for festivals, recording and mixing music, programming commercial music venues, attending music conferences, founding and directing music festivals, acting as an agent/manager for top musical groups, or simply registering music compositions for other artists, I have been involved in most aspects of the music business, buying, selling or being the artist myself. So, if you are interested in any of the services described below, please do get in touch through the CONTACT page and I’ll be delighted to chat to you. Prices and rates are tailored and personalised on request only.

EDUCATION: MUSIC & GUITAR LESSONS
I started teaching nearly 20 years ago when a good friend of mine asked me to help her son learning how to play guitar. I wasn’t too sure if I was fit for the job but I said to myself I would give it a try. After all, I studied to be a primary school teacher many years ago, so my interest for teaching has always been there.
Since my first lesson I have been helping dozens of beginner students to get the hang of the instrument, intermediate students to improve their skills and advanced students to perfect their knowledge, not only with the guitar but with understanding the language of music in a general way. I use my own methodology (which includes video tutorials like the one playing on the background behind these lines), I don’t prepare my students for exams and I try to make the learning process fun and interesting. I have worked as a tutor for a few branches of Music Generation Ireland and I can also provide workshops for small to large groups.
Although I have a few online students, I prefer the lessons face to face and I only teach a small number of hours per week. If you want to find out more, get in touch to check my availability and rates.
One important advice: a decent quality instrument is essential to enjoy playing; a dodgy instrument is bound to spend more time in the case than in your hands.

CONSULTANCY SERVICES
If there is something I have acquired after all these years in the music business, it’s experience. Maybe not all the knowledge I wish I had, but experience, plenty. Every step on the way to what I am today was a learning process and every obstacle that had to be sorted meant something new was learnt. As my idol Paco de Lucía once said: “I wish I had when I was younger the knowledge I have nowadays; the path would have been much easier”.
These days you can find everything on the Internet, but you can only find it if you know what you’re looking for. From self-management to registering your works and get paid your copyrights as a creator or a performer or releasing your music in different formats, my consultancy services can provide new artists the mentorship and expert advice that might help your career. Get in touch, let me know if you’re stuck with something and if you think I can be of any assistance, we’ll meet for coffee and discuss the matter.

EVENT & BAND MANAGEMENT
So you have a band or an album you want to promote? You want to find gigs, an agent in Germany or a few festivals that suit what you’re doing? I can help.
Or are you trying to put together a music event locally and you need to find the right venue, the right performers, the right ways to advertise and the kind of public you want? I can help there too.
Get in touch and we’ll chat.
Note: If you’re planning your wedding, I’m sorry for your troubles (apologies for the joke) but I’m not the right person for that kind of event.

RECORDING studio FACILITIES
Finally, in recent times I have studied a little bit with (and learnt a lot from) a fantastic Swiss sound engineer by the name of Urs Lanz. He produced all our albums with NoCrows and I have spent plenty of hours in his studio, recording, editing, mixing and most of all, learning. Unfortunately, Urs has now retired and closed his studio in Sligo but I bought some of his gear. Not that I can claim to be a good producer whatsoever, but I can offer my semi-professional mini studio for simple and quick recording sessions or demo productions (nothing too fancy).
See below some of the stuff I can offer you as part of a recording session.
Note: Neither the equipment nor the instruments are for hire independently from recording sessions.
